We are inundated daily with all kinds of information about cosmetics. Television bombards us with advertising, magazines promote the latest news in the field of miraculous mascara and shampoos and, especially on the Internet, we come across articles that draw our attention to products and ingredients that can cause disease.

How to know what to choose? Of what we apply to the body, we only know what marketing wants us to know, that is, little and not always what would allow us to choose consciously.

Beatrice Mautino, scientist, researcher and scientific disseminator, sought to fill this serious gap by putting herself in the shoes of those who enter a store with the intention of buying effective (and safe) products that improve their appearance and well-being, without being deceived by publicity.

    • Hello Serina and thanks for your comment.

From your description I can’t figure out which book you are talking about, can you let me know about its title?

      Thanks,

  2. It was brought into my attention that there are so many harmful chemicals lurking into our soaps and cosmetics. I have been trying my very best to avoid that and I want to make my own. Thanks for sharing thee books. A Senhora do Monte And Natural Beauty really caught my attention. I would love to make my own eye serum. Beleza is also another good one, I heard so many good things about beer and it’s potential for rejuvenating out hair and also skin. There is a beer bath in Germany that I always wanted to visit. I will get Natural Beauty first and take it from there.

    • Hello Nuttanee, I am glad you are taking a look at natural cosmetics. I am still to know someone that started to make and use their own natural soaps and skin care products and came back to the commercial ones 🙂

Yes, there are some harsh ingredients on commercial cosmetics, please, see my post about it, if you want to know more.

But let’s talk about happier things: either by purchasing one of these books or by trying the recipes I post on my blog (like a “How To” post about making natural lip balm), the important part is that you experiment and see for yourself if natural cosmetics are good for you. Also, whether doing them yourself is something you like to do, or you prefer to just purchase them.

Although I have made up my mind, I want people to get convinced by themselves, and find the best solution for them. Me and my blog are here just to give options.

About beer, I am planning to make a beer soap, I’ve heard it makes the soap very soft and creamy, but with so many options and recipes to try, it will still take some time to publish it on my website 🙂

      Happy experiences with natural cosmetics!

      Cheers,

      Sofia
